09.10.24 • Automated high-bay warehouses are an integral part of efficient intralogistics. They help ensure material management and warehousing processes run smoothly, and they save operators valuable time.

SEW-EURODRIVE has developed innovative drive solutions and energy-efficient technologies to boost the performance of high-bay warehouses and lower lifecycle costs. This can substantially reduce energy consumption, costs, and environmental impact.

The utilization of digitalization and technology plays a central role in the logistics environment. Smartly networked technologies bring new opportunities for process optimization and predictive maintenance.

"We provide comprehensive solutions for different areas of logistics. Smart energy management reduces warehouse operating costs, and predictive maintenance improves system availability," says Erno Mustonen, Business Development Manager, SEW-EURODRIVE Oy.

"We aim to increase the productivity of our customers' warehouse systems and support capacity expansion with the current electrical connection."

Energy efficiency is a key factor in the design and operation of high-bay warehouses. Energy recovery systems collect and utilize waste energy generated by warehouse operations, such as braking energy from lifting systems. This energy can be redirected back into the system or used in other warehouse functions. Smart control systems, in turn, optimize warehouse operations and energy consumption.

SEW-EURODRIVE's innovative solutions for high-bay warehouses

The MOVI-C® modular automation system includes several technical solutions for optimizing high-bay warehouses. With the MOVIKIT® software libraries, the movements and energy efficiency of drive technology can be controlled.

In the Power and Energy solution, energy is reused by utilizing energy storage technology. This can save up to 40% energy compared to traditional solutions. The energy storage can be used, for example, in emergency stop functions, allowing the device to be safely brought to a controlled state during a power outage.

The DriveRadar® IoT Suite is part of the company's automation system. The web-based condition monitoring system enables the collection and analysis of data from components, machines, systems, and processes. It provides users at different levels with useful information for device management, diagnostics, and optimization. The system also generates the necessary information from the component level for spare parts management and procurement.
