15.05.26 • Rapid technological development, digitalization, and the growing adoption of software-based solutions are driving the automation industry toward the next generation of solutions.
Regulatory development is also evolving alongside this change. The new EU Machinery Regulation ((EU) 2023/1230) will replace the previous Machinery Directive and will become fully applicable in January 2027. The reform supports the shift toward automation solutions in which digital control systems, software, and functional safety play an increasingly central role.
End of lifecycle for Generation B products – a smooth transition to the future
As part of the broader development in the automation industry, the lifecycle of SEW‑EURODRIVE’s Generation B automation products is also coming to an end. This is a natural phase in product development – and at the same time an excellent opportunity to implement a controlled and well‑planned transition to a modern automation solution.
To ensure that we can continue to offer our customers up-to-date, evolving solutions that meet future requirements, the modular Generation B automation system will be gradually replaced by products from the modular MOVI‑C® automation system portfolio.
Similar lifecycle changes are currently taking place across the entire automation industry.
