05.09.25 • SEW-EURODRIVE Oy has been providing drive technology products, services, and solutions in Finland since 1975. The company has grown from a small sales office with just a few people into one of the pioneers in drive technology in Finland.

Local presence and customer orientation as the cornerstone of operations

Behind our success are skilled personnel, long-term customer relationships, a regional sales network, and the best delivery capability on the market.

The determined sales efforts in the early years laid a solid foundation for the company's growth. The modular concept of drive equipment from the parent company, German SEW-EURODRIVE GmbH & Co KG, enabled centralized manufacturing of components and decentralized assembly. Therefore, in 1980, a strategic decision was made to establish an assembly plant in Hollola. Local assembly enabled fast and flexible delivery capability, which remains one of the company's key competitive advantages.

Later, the product range expanded to include frequency inverters, servo drives, and decentralized drive automation. New service offerings were also introduced to the market, such as CDM® - Complete Drive Management and the Pick-Up and Delivery Service. Advances in information technology enhanced the company’s internal processes and brought new digital solutions to the customer interface. The focus shifted from individual products to complete solutions and Life Cycle Services.

In 2009, SEW-EURODRIVE Oy established a Service Center in Hollola and began servicing gear units from other brands as well. Later, the service operations expanded to Tornio, where a second Service Center was opened to serve customers in Northern Finland.

Juha Korhola, Managing Director of SEW-EURODRIVE Oy since 2022, emphasizes the importance of customer orientation and local presence:

"We are our customers’ local partner – close to the customer. Our fast and reliable delivery capability is enabled by our Drive Technology Center in Hollola, our Service Centers in Hollola and Tornio, and the SEW-EURODRIVE Group’s Industrial Gear Unit Factory in Karkkila. Thanks to these strengths, we deliver value to our customers – now and in the future."

"We continuously develop the expertise of our personnel, leverage new technologies, and enhance the customer experience. The digitalization of drive technology, Life Cycle Services, and system deliveries open up new business opportunities and strengthen the company’s competitive position."

SEW-EURODRIVE Oy’s half-century of operations in Finland reflects a long-term commitment to customers, skilled personnel, and local presence – the core pillars on which the future will also be built.
