The individual demands of consumers are constantly growing and so are those of food producers. This means manufacturers of packaging and filling machines are being presented with new challenges time and time again to develop their machines in a modular way for automation. At the same time, the demand is growing for technologies that are as reliable as they are available, as well as being innovative and offering scope for future expansion. And, if possible, from a single source.
SEW-EURODRIVE is exactly the right partner for this. With our MAXOLUTION® automation solutions, we rely on object-oriented programming and offer ready-to-use software modules for the respective applications with MOVIKIT®. With the appropriate selection of typical technology functions and simple and time-saving parameterization, the modules and applications of a horizontal cup-filling machine can be set in motion quickly, efficiently and in a perfectly synchronized manner.
Parameterization instead of programming is SEW-EURODRIVE's answer to the requirements in automation technology: For classic HFS machines – such as cup-filling machines with their high modularity – our MOVI-C® automation platform with MOVIKIT® offers a wide range of software modules. Your advantage: In this way, the applications of the individual modules of a cup-filling machine can be parameterized quickly and easily and implemented in the shortest possible time.
The automated cup feeding system is defined via the MOVIKIT® MultiMotion Camming software module through simple parameterization and implemented as cycle-synchronous machine motion. The cup discharge can be implemented just as easily using parameterizable software blocks.
The safety technology integrated into the controller and drive—based on FSoE (fail-safe over EtherCAT®)—not only allows motors to be safely stopped. Thanks to the advanced safety functions in the MOVIKIT® software modules, you can also safely reduce speed, making it easier and faster to clean machine areas.
With our MOVI-C® modular automation system, machines can be developed modularly not only on the software side but also on the hardware side. The extensive portfolio of centralized and decentralized inverters for synchronous and asynchronous motors always offers the right drive. This allows you to integrate or remove machine options—such as an agitator—modularly and decentrally into or out of the overall solution with minimal effort.
The MOVIKIT® MultiMotion software module ensures real-time, level-based filling with its simple parameterization of the filling variant. At the same time, this function controls the dosing valves in sync with the cycle.
Higher travel speeds—and thus up to 25% higher machine throughput—can be achieved in this module of the cup filling machine with the award-winning MOVIKIT® AntiSlosh software module. Thanks to this quickly configurable function, you can move liquids completely “without spillover.”
Our MOVIKIT® MultiMotion Camming software modules, with their cam functionality, provide ready-to-use engagement and switch-off functions that users can apply directly. This allows, for example, lifting tools to be engaged and switched off based on position and in a synchronous manner with the process.
With MOVIKIT® MultiMotion Camming, the otherwise complicated and time-consuming programming of cam transition functions is no longer necessary. Thanks to simple parameterization, even complex sequences can be implemented quickly and easily.
Reliable, airtight packaging is essential for clean and aseptic sealing. The correct temperature is also critical in this process. To this end, we offer the appropriate modules for temperature control and ensure the highest sealing quality.
For easy integration with the control system, we offer special software modules such as MOVITKIT® OPC UA. This allows for rapid implementation of data acquisition and quality assurance (testing and logging) regardless of the platform. Our MOVI-C® CONTROLLER also support OPC UA®.
Horizontal fill and seal machines are used to fill yogurt, pudding, and beverages into cups, buckets, or jars. The containers are fed into the machine, separated, sterilized, filled, sealed, capped, inspected, and finally discharged. These process steps are automated and must be precisely synchronized with one another to ensure high throughput.
Regardless of how many axes are driven and what power rating the machine ultimately requires, our modular machine packages always provide the right basic configuration for a complete solution.
Automation with our hardware and software solutions enables the implementation of such machine types even in accordance with the highest hygienic requirements. Depending on the model, cleaning requirements, and individual machine design, a wide variety of drive and automation products are used. Accordingly, the machine packages for horizontal fill and seal machines are offered in two designs as a basic package.
The 636 machine package includes the CM3C.. series servo gearmotors in their standard version (degree of protection IP65), which are suitable for use in non-food-contact applications.
Machine Package 637 Hygienic is recommended for machines where the drives may come into contact with food. Here, the CM2H.. series of stainless steel servo gearmotors (degree of protection IP69K) are used.
This license bundle for form, fill, and seal (FFS) machines consists of software licenses for the application-specific implementation of typical horizontal or vertical FFS machines. It includes the MOVIKIT® AutomationFramework programming template, web visualization, an OPC UA data server, cams, support for fieldbus masters, and other machine-specific functions (winding, cutting, and sealing).
Special software functions were also developed specifically for this type of machine. Both StarterSET versions include the award-winning MOVIKIT® AntiSlosh software module. This module significantly reduces sloshing by adjusting the travel profile accordingly. This shortens the settling time of moving liquids. This vibration-reducing motion calculation is a core element of the MOVIKIT® bundle FillSeal.
The StarterSET is the basic equipment package, which can be customized to meet the machine’s basic requirements; it is flexible, modular, and independent.
